Caring for your selenite and Himalayan salt lamps
Both selenite and Himalayan salt are natural minerals. A little care keeps them glowing beautifully for years.
Selenite
- Keep it dry. Selenite is a soft mineral that dissolves in water. Never wash it or place it near sinks, baths or humid rooms.
- Clean with a dry cloth. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth or brush to remove dust.
- Handle gently. Selenite is soft and can chip or scratch. Lift it by the base, not the top.
- Fine fibres are normal. Small surface fibres and markings are part of the natural stone.
Himalayan salt
- Keep it away from moisture. Salt attracts moisture from the air, so avoid bathrooms, kitchens and windowsills.
- Leave it on. Switching your salt lamp on for a few hours a day helps it stay dry.
- If it gets damp: unplug it, wipe it with a dry cloth, and let it dry before switching it back on.
- Use a coaster or mat to protect furniture.
Electrical safety
- Use only the cable and bulb supplied, or a replacement of the same type and wattage.
- Unplug the lamp before changing the bulb or moving it.
- Do not use a lamp with a damaged cable. Contact us and we will help.
- Keep out of reach of young children and pets.
A note on crystals
Many people enjoy selenite and salt lamps as part of a calm home and their wellbeing routine. These lamps are decorative items and are not medical devices. They are not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
